5 days left… ahhhh!

So there’s only 5 days left before everyone has to turn in their final projects and I’m 1 for 8.

I still have to write 2 annotations, an introduction for those annotations, a general introduction, and 3 abstracts.  I’ve found my 3 criticisms, and possibly 3 backround sources, (I don’t know if Memphis Bell is going to work as a backround source yet).  I’ve started both annotations and the general introduction at this point, but I have yet to begin everything else.

I’m not gonna lie–I’m kind of wishing that I was the other Katie right now just so that I wouldn’t have to deal with writing basically the ENTIRE project in the next 5 days, the week before its due.

Please don’t fail me for my procrastination, Mr. Kreinbring!

update on final project….

So I’ve re-read the novel and watched the clip from Kreinbring at this point…  Still trying to find a way to incorporate that clip and the movie into my final project.

I’ve also picked out three annotation passages, two have been approved but I still need to confirm the third, and I’m planning on starting to write those this week.  Hopefully anyway.

This is random– but I think we were supposed to include some of the writing process.  Right now, I’m multitasking and working on an annotation for Slaugherhouse 5.  There’s definately a ton of parallels that can be drawn between the two novels–anti-war views, insanity, being surrounded by death, all that.  Anyway, the annotation passage I’m using for Slaughterhouse 5 is about insanity and altered perceptions and fatalism–themes that are also present in Catch-22.   Even though I haven’t actually started any of my annotations for my final project, writing the one for Slaughterhouse 5 definately got me thinking about the themes in Catch-22 and how closely related the two novels are.  Since a lot carries over because they’re so similar, I feel like I sort of have a better understanding of what I’m going to write about and how to go about it and tie it all together.  We’ll see how that turns out.

This weekend I’m going to try and find some critical essays on the novel at OU’s library too.   Hopefully I’ll start the criticism then too–but it probably won’t happen.

I figure at least I’m starting the project at this point….  even though it took me two months to get this far.  I think I’m still ahead of everyone else though– not quite sure whether or not I should be proud of that or not this late in the game though…

catch-22

I’ve decided to read Catch-22 for my final project because I’ve read it before and it’s HILARIOUS!!!

The first step was talking to Kreinbring. He said it’s an amazing novel and told me that I need to watch the movie, though I doubt it will be as good as the book.
